Geoinformatics and Cartography
Geoinformatics is the branch of informatics (computer science) that specializes in the processing of spatial, i.e., location aware, data. Its applications are referred to as GIS (Geographic Information System) or spatial data systems. We focus on spatial analysis, modelling and visualization, with important applications in mapping and navigation, business activities, land use planning, as well as national defence, peacekeeping, and emergency and rescue management by civil authorities.
